Cool idea tom, didn't know Clyphx could switch input settings.
Problem with my suggestion: if your locked track is a normal scaled pad layout and you move the focus to a Drumrack track, the pad layout switches to drums on the Push so you can't play the locked keyboard layout anymore. It still could be a useful workaround for someone if they plan their set around the limitations though...

Is this the same problem: I've got a keyboard and a Push going into a track- input is "all ins" rec is enabled can hear them either/both fine... if I highlight any other track in my project I can still hear the keyboard being played, but now I CANT Hear the PUSH nor is the surface notes display lighting up.

Why cant I hear the Push, Why can I still hear the keyboard?

Thanks, Ara

So you are worried that while trying to play notes on a track that is now the only one receiving notes from Push (via the in-routings) and you want to change a devices setting on a drum rack, changing focus to that DrumRack track will change the layout to the drum pads while it's actually controlling a regular tracks notes?!
There is another action (Push Drins) in Clyphx for that purpose, which you could assign to a different button.

It forces Note mode when you are on a DrumRack track. Normally this allows you to play 64 pads on a DrumRack, but in this case would be used to let you continue to play notes with the regular layout on the other track.

Read a little in the clyphx manual, it's well written and will give you a lot of ideas for solutions to problems you may have had for a long time and thought were unsolvable. It's free, so what's stopping everyone?!

All right Tom, what do I do? I've got ClyphX. I have a single track with a large, multiple instrument rack on it which I trigger using a keyboard and/or the Push. During a live performance I want to easily create audio loops on the fly, so I have 7 audio tracks getting AUDIO FROM this instrument rack track. All of these have the record button enabled. So when I find a nice riff, I hit the record circle in a clip, record it in, and then hit the launch triangle to end the loop. This works for the keyboard, but going to the other track to begin recording takes the focus from the original instrument rack track and keeps disabling the Push. I'm getting good at quickly clicking back and forth though, before beat one!

Since you only have one Midi track, but the situation that you would like to have 2 instruments play that track according to your wishes (but never both, right?!). You would make two X-controlls, or two slots in PXTs Acessory mode. The first would be entered in Clyphxs Usersettings.txt and be triggered from a Midi controller that is NOT Push (for example a button on your keyboard), the later in PXTs Usersettings.txt.
You can make that with either two buttons in trigger mode, or maybe even better one button in toggle mode. The latter version would use the on and off action lists. The first solution only the on action lists.

The lists would only consist of one action each.

If we assume your Midi track is track 1, it would be:
(X= the name of how your keyboard is listed in the Input routing section of the track)

One Button solution: 1/In Push Input(Ableton Push..), In x
Two Button solution:
1: 1/In Push Input(Ableton Push....)
2: 1/In x

You can first try if it works by using these actions in a x-clip.

For this just select a clip in your set and enter rename mode:
Then rename the clip to:
[] 1/In x

etc.

Appon triggering that clip you should see the Input routing change on Track 1.

Further information in the clyphx manual.

EDIT: Just read your post again: Could it be that you just have to disable "select clip on launch" in Lives Preferences?!

Dude, You are the MAN!

It was just that simple, de- select clips on launch.

I am having a great time with the ClyphX scales feature, where it changes the scales on Push automatically, that is awesome.

Thank you for your thorough and most helpful response.

I've got the same "problem" If a track is armed (MIDI Track) and I go to another midi track, no problem Push controls the first miditrack. But If I click on a audiotrack or a return track. Push loses focus and goes to the responding track? It doesnt matter if the track is locked or not. This is driving me nuts!!!

Ok: I'm going insane.

Trying to adjust the reverb I have on a return channel while playing keys on Push, but every time I select that channel, my keys disappear on Push.

There is still no way to lock it to a channel?
