The discussed ClyphX idea is not what you want?

Lock to Control Surface can be dangerous if you later forget it's active, but it will lock the parameters to what you're interested in. Five minutes later you might not be, however.

Also, this is backwards, as what one would like is to lock the notes, but the main idea with Push is that it should always reflect what is active in Live. To side-track this is bad interface idea I think even though it's also very nifty and useful. Maybe this is something that'd work quite well on a Push 2 though.

How do you do this in Push 2 you mean?

If anyone is still interested, I've created a public suggestion/feature request which can be found at Ableton Centercode https://ableton.centercode.com.

You'll have to create a new account but if you really want this feature to get attention possibly, take the 5 min to sign up and upvote my suggestion titled "Push 2 Lock to Track"

trying to use push as a sequencer AND mixer AND note input device all at once for live performance is just not possible. if u have just one track---MAYBE--- two---- then u can get away with it . but an more than that and it's just not doable

it's one off the reasons i use a second controller (BCR 2000) without a control surface next to the push for live gigs.
instant acces to all the FX racks in the master and return channels while triggering clips and playing notes on the push.

Does anyone know the status of this? It makes complex live setups with the (otherwise WONDERFUL) Push 2 a nightmare.

First time using Push and one of the first things I try to do - select a track while playing notes on another with push - leads me to this 4 year old thread of people asking for this feature? :(

I wonder if there is anyway to activate / disable lock to control surface on push 2 from the push 2 itself... Can't find anything.

The closest thing I found was this

"I've been messing with this and have just come up with a horrible workaround :)

You can midi-trigger track selections.

i. Cmd+m, select the track you want the Push focused on, then send whatever midi message you want.

ii. In an extra track, create a short loop of this midi trigger and have it always playing, maybe every 16th or so.

Now whenever you 'leave' that track by launching something else, the looped midi message will always re-select that track :)

...You'll have to stop the loop whenever you want to be able to navigate away from that track..."

Found it here - https://www.ableton.com/answers/using-2 ... to-a-track

The person above says it's a "horrible workaround", but actually sounds quite clever, and it means you could potentially toggle the function from the push 2, or another controller with a button mapped to the dummy clip <3

Haven't tried it myself just yet to see if it actually works though, haha.
