Push and crackling sounds with low CPU usage
I'm experiencing crackling sounds when selecting rows of clips with the Push. Everytime I press a button to do this happens. The CPU is at 20-30%. I have a couple of years old Macbook Pro 16gb RAM and RME UCX (USB mode). If I put Live9 to 256 samples it disappears but shouldn't the CPU be overloaded before the crackling starts?
Re: Push and crackling sounds with low CPU usage
Hmmmmm. Well, I wonder if there is an anti virus or wifi issue?

Re: Push and crackling sounds with low CPU usage
Strange thing is that this crackle appears even when using two softsynths and CPU at 5%...
There is something that makes Live9 go nuts every time I change clips. Sounds like the sound is clipping/distorting.
Don´t think it is a CPU/Performance issue. Never go over 50% even on really BIG (several Divas, Zebra2s, Omnispheres and audio tracks) projects.

So, if you disconnect push and use something else it goes away?

Re: Push and crackling sounds with low CPU usage
Try disable "Reduced Latency when monitoring" in Prefs and see if it helps.

Same noise with the Push turned off.
The"Reduced Latency when monitoring" was already disabled.
Thanks for your tips:)

Re: Push and crackling sounds with low CPU usage
I use a desktop and recently I expenrienced the same thing: crackles before full cpu load.
i checked my CPU temps, they are above 90° and the CPU hogs at 99, producing the crackles. I opened and noticed the CPU fan and ehatsink were full of dust.
I was going to clean it but in the trip to the store for thermal paste I found a good deal on a CPU heat sink so I got it. The new CPu heatsink reduced CPU temps to 40° idle and 49° under full load.
So my advice is you checl your cpu Temps and if yors are running hot open your laptop and give it a good clean to improve ventilation.

I have an average CPU at 80C

That's toasty.

Re: Push and crackling sounds with low CPU usage
yeah that's way too high for normal usage. I cannot even push my machine past 65C with a 100% stress test over all 8 cores. I'd be checking your cooling fans or flushing out the dust.Gravitational wrote:I have an average CPU at 80C
Re: Push and crackling sounds with low CPU usage
Could even be something as simple as not having a thermal paste anymore (it wears out sometimes)
Like mentioned even if it's not the definitive problem, you really should be in the 40-60c range.

Re: Push and crackling sounds with low CPU usage
I notice I experience the crackle when asio4all is my driver. The fix is to release the driver everytime i use it.

Looks like 80C is ok for a Macbook Pro Intel Core i7jestermgee wrote: yeah that's way too high for normal usage. I cannot even push my machine past 65C with a 100% stress test over all 8 cores. I'd be checking your cooling fans or flushing out the dust.

How do you mean release the driver? Not sure I can use asio4all, I use Core Audio. Looks like most people use this on OSX.v00d00ppl wrote:I notice I experience the crackle when asio4all is my driver. The fix is to release the driver everytime i use it.

Mac users can't use asio4all. Nevermind. Thought you were on a PC
