This is what is listed as being changed in the beta:

- Scale Layouts are now available for Push 2 as well.
- The 'Sequent^' and 'Sequent>' Scale Layouts have been improved.

This is what the new set up screen looks like:

In the layout section you can choose 4ths, 3rds, or Sequential. Sequential can be vertical or horizontal. Does that work?

it seems like people want an integrated scale-tool for editing, importing and creating own scales..
there it would make sense to improve the scale-device to correspond with push AND i think
it would be really really great to add pitchshifting in CENTS to single notes.

pxt has shown that it is really easy to capture notes in a midi clip.

just hope they come up with something

that's very cool Tarekith, but in addition I'd like to just press a pad and turn a knob to choose the note I want on that pad and so on.

I'd like to press a pad, turn a knob, and have fresh coffee delivered to my studio. Race to implementation? :)

I know these instruments and midi protocols are very old compared to the Push but they are a good reference for what we'd like to see

Now you can create your own scale in MIDI-rack+MIDI Pitch

Tested, Today is Ableton Push 2 the best DAW/MIDI controller in the market.

9.6.1b5 Release Notes

Changes for Push:

In Drum Racks, it is now possible to transpose the note played by a pad.
In Mix mode, the track meters now change in color to reflect the state of the track routing / monitoring, as they do in Live.
Improved the waveform zooming behavior on Push 2 for both Simpler and audio Clip mode.
Improved performance when scrolling vertically in Session View with Push 2.

Does this mean that one can now assign a scale to a drun rack?
If so, this is great news!...

Really neat improvement for Live (independent of push). It means that in the "Receive" chooser of the drum rack one can now chose "All Notes" so the drum rack will play all notes input to it - and you can choose a plug-in VST in the output to play an instrument via a drum rack.

Also, you can assign your own scale notes to the pads.. so one could conceivable construct his own scale to be played with the pads. Not sure how this works, but I think it means one could assign (e.g.)) a "Minor Gypsy" scale to the pads in the key of C and then use a midi Pitch device to transpose to whatever key desired. If one could color the pads (for the roots), one could then implement that scale as a musical instrument using a Launchpad (or Pro) or any other device with a pad input in a drum rack.

This is new to me, so I'll be learning more, but this is a great direction for Live, which opens it up to Push/Push 2 type note functionality for all pad input devices....
(Live Midi scale devices need to be re-implemented to dispense with the duplicated notes for the different scales in an 8x8 matrix)

work arounds are cool but what if any is the resistance to simply allowing one to set the midi note on a pad with a simple touch pad/turn dial capability in 64 pad mode?
