Push 2 screen when powered by USB
Push 2 screen when powered by USB
Can anyone post a pic (or comparison pics) of the Push 2 screen when powered by the USB only? Very curious to see if it looks usable without the power supply...
Thanks to any help.

Im keen to know this too.
I don't use a P/S with Push 1 and the brightness is fine for me but I did read Tarekth said the LCD was rather dull without the power pack and almost needed a completely dark room.

Yeah, this power supply thing is one of the major reasons why I am hesitant on making the switch.
My current Push let's me rock without the power supply. I use it like that frequently.

i don't like bright displays, and prefer to work in lowish light, so for me the display is usable without external power. in really bright rooms or outdoors you would definitely need the external power though.

Personally I'd find it almost impossible to use unless you were in a REALLY dark room. I have crappy old man post-lasik eyes though, so YMMV.

Hmm, yeah I haven't got the best eyes and that looks quite the difference so I might prepare for the inevitable.

i dunno, i'm finding ok without the power supply, even in a reasonably well-lit room. a lot of the stuff on the display is quite high contrast...
Re: Push 2 screen when powered by USB
Thanks so much Tarekith!! That's a great comparison shot. Would you say the "dim" pic is fairly accurate to what you're seeing on the LCD screen?
Glad to hear at least one person thinks it's usable. My eyes are pretty good (the only sense that's still fully functional it seems, haha), so I think I'm going to spring for the trade in. Frustratingly the Push 1 doesn't support Pad Slice and some other new features - maybe in an update... I'm going to hold out for another week (maybe ) and see what people find/what ableton says/what comes up.
Many many thanks.

Re: Push 2 screen when powered by USB
you can't really tell from an uploaded photo. what the photos show is that there is a big difference between maximum and minimum brightness.
personally, even with the power supply i turn the LEDs down to minimum, and the display to 11%. i really like the muted pad colours. but i'm a fan of mood lighting...

Hi folks - I used my Push2 last night with no power supply attached. I thought it was pretty decent - but I was in dark room. It was viewable with the lights on, but I certainly had to strain a little.

Screen is dim on USB power only, but still usable (not enjoyable) however, it is the pads which really get hit the most. They are very very dim to the point where it is hard to distinguish between the lighter colors.

Well I see that the Power supply is a standard 12v which is good because I already have a 6 Amp 12v power supply to power other gear and my desk lighting so I can just patch Push into that without the need for the power supply.

Re: Push 2 screen when powered by USB
I thought it was usable in both dark and a lighted room, however, when plugged in it is a lot brighter and much more enjoyable. I would only go usb if I needed to move it around like we do when playing live, but I think I could manage with it.
