Old combination has wider creative scope with a slightly iffy workflow. New combo is limited creatively atm although sampling and slicing is pretty good, fun to play with etc. However new combo workflow is much improved. Some troubles with third party devices skinnerbox Time for instance stiffles the experience a little but it's minor really when browser preview and selection is much quiker/smoother to display and navigate and device selection navigation is improved. So haven't missed pxt too much it's push pong and asteroids and a stable Time sequencer I would like to see.

Hmmm...

I am not shure if that comparison leads to useful insights.
The main question is why the Push 2 Developers decide to leave out things that were already possible with Push 1 and PXT, in spite of having Stray within the Team?

The major expert critics with push 1 was the complete lost of possible functionality in the moment you decide to use AUDIO Tracks.
Then, PXT showed the world what is possible, reducing the gap between audio clips and midi clips.

Now, we have Push 2 and the announcement of finally added audio clip features.
And well, now you can use audio material in a fantastic way, but again, within MIDI-clips.
As soon as you decide to use audio-tracks, Push 2 still reduces itself down to a simple launchpad.

What does it make so hard to implement at least some pad-control to start points and loop lengths of audio files?
As much as i love Stray´s work, i would deeply appreciate such simple performance features without changing user modes or midi slicings...

I think i should ask Abletons directly about that...;-)

I wish you would!
I did not know that Stray was working with ableton, this makes all the importance of getting a clear and concise answer.

Bump. Has there been any movement on pxt live or its functions for push 2?

"Development specific to Push 2 hasn't commenced and so I couldn't comment on the pricing model, crossgrade options or the like just yet"

I wish he would speak on what we can expect for Push 2 natively since he's working for ableton?

That's what we all wish, but you can't always get what you want.

That was 2 months ago. Was wondering if development has started since then...

Considering the discussion is called Push 2 I'd say updates would be posted there. At any rate somewhere in those forums. I wouldn't get my hopes up just because Ableton hired Stray for some time. Look how few of the ideas from PXT that has been some inspiration for Push 2 features. That might be a good thing because I believe PXT isn't for everyone.

with regards to issues such as these my first rule of thumb is not to say 'no' when I make a feature request, because that's the developers job.

I think in this case it's the developer that decides what's worth devoting time to. We have a market economy, not a command economy. It would seem to be a great idea to develop for the Push 2, especially if the fresh opened up and documented API can be of any help. But we don't know how much time and issues a PXT Live and PXT Live plus or something like those for Push 2 really entails.

I think it's a wise idea to communicate the request directly to Stray. Just make it simple, like "I'd love to have this for the Push 2".
