The workaround that I was able to figure out was duplicating the track that is having problems, and then deleting the original. This clears whatever state issues the original track was having.
The workaround you suggested worked for me.
I am running Ableton Live 10.1.8, and it seems I experienced the same bug

Is this ever going to get fixed? I can't believe this is still an issue, having to do a workaround for something that should be so basic.

I'm a new push owner and have just spent a while trying to figure out what the hell was going on due to this bug. Surely this is a simple bug fix?

Support (you can even reference this topic). The more voices, the higher the priority!

Cant believe, its November 2022 and I'M STILL EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. Ableton version 11.2.6
its so frustrating and completely ruining my work in arrangement. Made me temporarily move to Logic. WTF!!

this is happening in live 12 beta.
what a creative monster ... until you hit the mayonnaise.
alas - a toggle of the + scraped off that nasty discharge and offered a nice mustard in return.
