Should I get Push for producing?

Hello all,

I'm thinking about what I should get for a while now.

I use Ableton for producing only and also I am only working in the arrangement view.
My music is mainly loop based (disco, funky house) and I like to freak around, shortening the cycles and use stutter efects and filters.
I'm coming from a hardware setup with samplers and I used to slice loops up and put them under pads and keys.
Since I moved over digital I'm cutting things up in Ableton and move around the audio bits to create grooves and variations.

In short, I believe I can be more creative going back to the "sampling way".
I can't really decide If Push is the right thing for me.
I wonder if its perhaps more suited for live performance instead of producing.
te alterantive would be something like the Akai I guesss.

Will Push be worth it for me or am I better off getting something else?

Can anyone advise me.

Thx in advance

yes push is exactly what you need.
you will love it, and you will grow with it.

Possibly, just consider that Push works best in session view.

It works great as an editor now in arrangement view too tho.

You can select things in Arrangement and edit on Push, create ideas and loops on the fly in session as you compose. I don't want to promote the idea any further without a paid endorsement from Ableton but apart from having to part with some cash, there is little there isn't to like about it if you are a Live user.

Amen to that. I had Push 1 but just got the Push 2 and if you're using Live it's a must. This thing is just so good...

I've always used Push for producing. It's much better to produce on Push 2 than the first one, though. Most of the time I make hip-hop beats on it. And now, as mentioned earlier on this thread, it's even easier to switch the recording between session and arrangement mode. I like this workflow alot for producing.

Of course that depends on your way of music production.
