Some ideas for Push shortcuts

Post by pepe. » Mon Nov 14, 2016 1:16 pm

Push shortcuts:

chord mode = hold down shift + scale

direct chord mode = play a chord on the pads that you like and hold down shift + scale to save your chord

arp mode = shift + repeat

direct arp mode in 8,16,32… = hold down shift + repeat 8,16,32...

nudge all midi notes in a clip in realtime = hold down select + octave left & right

transpose all midi notes in a clip in realtime = hold down select + octave up & down

a big wish for the next update are swing in realtime
realtime swing = hold down quantize + swing amount

What do you think?

A chord mode (like the one in NI Maschine) would be really cool for Push 2. But I'm afraid this will not happen before Live 10.

Give me a 'lock controls to currently selected device' shortcut.

I don't know if shift+device is already being used (push 1, not sure if 2 has same button), but that would probably be a really easy way to lock/unlock.

Do you really need this shortcut? I figured out how to enable lock to the device on Ableton Push 2 here:

So there are two ways to lock your devices. I cannot think of, why I need to control this from Ableton Push 2 directly.

What do you do if you want to be able to have Live automatically switch to things when launching of when selecting channels?

But you momentarily want it to lock to something you are currently controlling?

Also, what if you have multiple midi controllers? And you want some to control different devices while Push is locked to one device?

Even with select channel on Launch off, if you select a device within a channel, you'll end up controlling the device. If you have more than one controller. This would be redundant.

All of this would be solved if there was a control on the Push itself to lock/unlock Push to a device.

It is a flow kill to have to go to a device. Lock it. Do stuff. Then Find that device again because you want to 'free up' the Push. And go back to unlocking.

You are right. It would be handy to switch the lock on/off within the Push2.
But still for me there is no need to unlock my Push device. It is more important
that the Push stays where I say it should stay and that tracks dont change as soon
I trigger one with my other controllers such as the launchpad.
I hope that makes sense.
