Push 2 drum rack plays alongside external synth upon pad press

Hi - I feel this is a simple problem that i've spent way too much time trying to get to the bottom of. I have a Novation Peak set up alongside my Push 2. I have one of ableton's built in drum sets in a drum rack. I can trigger my external synth, but when I play keys in the vicinity of the drum rack it plays the drum sound as well. My goal is to be able to switch between the two instruments and jam the parts out separately. I am under the impression that by selecting the correct device on the push 2 I can control said device, no?

I've attached a screenshot of my project. The novation peak is set to midi channel 1. In my research i've dug into some convo re: midi channels but not sure how the ableton drum rack plays into that.

I hope this has been clear enough. I'll be around to cooporate if anyone is willing to help me out. Shouldn't be too tall a task, eh? Thanks a bunch.
