Tips for opening and contact cleaning your PUSH 2

**Warning** This will invalidate your warranty so don't do it unless you have problems and/or are out of warranty!

Hello All

I was having issues with my PUSH 2- some pads required a lot more PUSH than others for the same velocity etc, made playing chords etc difficult- I suspected dirty contacts so took the plunge and opened the unit and cleaned the contacts - After I had done this it was PERFECT

I thought I would share a few tips in case anyone wants to try this:

Watch this video! https://youtu.be/YItWQdJgXLs by far the most useful thing you can do before you decide if this is for you! The rest below is just adding to this excellent video.

You will need a heat gun to tale of the feet/label - I bought one for £10 from Amazon...useful to have!

You will need contact cleaner, for example 'WD-40 Specialist Fast Drying Contact Cleaner with Smart Straw' (every studio should have this anyway- god send!)

Knobs just pull off.

Apply heat gun for a while on corners of pads until you can start to peel them, then put the heat under the pad if you can (you are melting the glue)

Remove all screws and put in a pot- don't worry about the 2 different sizes, the long ones 'drop in' fully when you are putting them back...but feel free to map it!

Once opened and you have admired the back, put face down on a cushion and remove the screes on the circuit board, note they have a 'screw' symbol by them, useful when you are putting them back as you also have holes for the cover you just removed!

Flip over whilst holding it together- you can stop all of the buttons falling out (i didn't remove them like in the video) and take it off as one part.

There is a little circuit board that is remove to get the white pads etc out- this is just push fit (2 connectors) so just gently pull it.

Once you have removed the 'white rubber blobs' and admired the weight, you have the bits you need to clean!

There is a carbon sheet and the metal gold squares its sits on, clean both sides with contact cleaner and lint free cloth.

Reassemble and enjoy sensitive trouble free use- repeat as necessary over time

I hope this helps someone.
