naming parameter banks of 3rd party plugins
naming parameter banks of 3rd party plugins
Hi,
is there a posibility to name the parameter pages of 3rd party plugins that i configured? They are only displayed as Bank 1, Bank 2 etc. on Push 2. It would be great if i could name the banks myself and group them like they are shown and grouped inside the plugin.

Nope.
Nor can you even rename actual VST parameters when you learn them either (making some plugins like Omnisphere a mess to even try and control more than 4 parameters). Been asking for 6 years now and have given up on any hope that users will be able to label banks or parameters or even easily create custom pages (with gaps if needed). It's the main reason I dropped Push from my main workflow and switched to Komplete Kontrol for all instrument automation and control now, 1000x better at all of that. I only use Push for drums, native live effects and a sloped writing board now, struggle to make it any more useful than that.

…imo a must have when you do a lot of live stuff with push…

scheffkoch, thx for that hint. That device would be very usefull. I think about to buy preditor 2. Is that a trusted provider?
It would be nice if ableton would implement that functionality, but i dont think that this would happen promptly.

Preditor 2 does not work with Live 11. Only Live10 and previous versions. The developer has not yet updated it to work with Live 11. Live 11 was released in February, 2021. That's eight months he has failed to do anything about it. "Trusted"? Hardly, pretty useless, actually.

…preditor 2 runs absolutely stable and flawless with ableton 10…and yes, the developer and isotonikstudios are both legit…

Re: naming parameter banks of 3rd party plugins
While PREditor is certainly nice and something I was considering a while ago, it's (IMHO) a little costly at $95 aud for what I personally consider a rather basic function that should be part of Live anyway. Maybe it can offer more function for the price but personally I just want clean labels for parameters so Push is actually useful with a VST plugin so it does seem quite a cost to basically allow you to rename a control, especially given it isn't updated for new versions of Live with any priority.
If it were around half that cost (and worked with L11) I could say it would definitely be worth a shot but for me given it's still not L11 compatible and who knows if an update will be available, it would be free to existing users or be another paid update. Can certainly understand peoples frustration.

…everything is better than relying on a native instruments software…they‘re always the last when it comes to updates…right now they‘re hoping for native apple m1 support „before the end of the year“…

You still have the option to rack your plugin and macro map the parameters (and give a custom name to the macros, indeed). And with L11's 16 macros it's quite comfortable imo.

…that‘s true, but unfortunately the macros don‘t display the same scale than the „original“ values…

Re: naming parameter banks of 3rd party plugins
Yeah that's my main issue with Macros, much more useable with 16 but still, so many VSTs out there you need access to more than 16 controls. Omnisphere for instance needs quite a good template of control but impossible to navigate when everything is abbreviated acronyms.scheffkoch wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 2:36 pm…that‘s true, but unfortunately the macros don‘t display the same scale than the „original“ values…

Yes I must look into it, I was going to some time ago but seemed it would break easily and wasn't working and didn't look like the original dev was going to update it. That's the concern I have with all these 3rd party solutions that they can just break with an update causing everything to go down the toilet, my dream is for this rather simple request to be an actual part of Live as I really don't see it as being too difficult to implement and would make things so much better.vokinpirks wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 11:05 amYou can try Ubermap out: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=221501
