Scale change on scene change solution

Post by neokruncher » Tue Dec 07, 2021 7:35 pm

I like many others want to have scales autoselected as the scenes change.
Ableton 11 got part way there by allowing Push to change scales when a clip is selected but this doesnt help that much since you need to manually do that.

Anyone know of a way to force a clip selection on a scene change as a work around?

What I mean is that the scale on PUSH only changes when the CLIP is selected, not executed.
I would like to have clips playing in series with follow actions with the scale changing as specified in each clip.
I was wondering if anyone had a solution to have the focus/selection of a clip occur with the scene change.

What if you use the "follow on launch" option? (I didn't test)

I thing you can create a track with a dummy clip and then use the clip envelope automation to fire a midi cc event, and then map this event (using the regular midi mapping) to select the desired clip (eg. the one containing the scale).
You have to use a midi virtual port however, in order to be able to capture the midi event.
Not exactly straightforward but it works IIRC.
