Push 2 Blank Display Screen but Responsive

Post by B_B » Tue Jul 19, 2022 5:24 pm

I've just purchased a Push 2 and am getting stuck setting up for the first time.

When plugged into my desktop the Push/Live is fully functional except for the display screen on the Push. It is backlit but completely blank.

Some discussions that have not produced a fix:

I have tried;
-many different USB ports
-display driver updates
-adjusting power management of USB devices
-rebooting Live
-rebooting Push
-rebooting desktop
-having Push on before launching Live (and vice versa)
-verifying that only a single instance of Push2 is in the MIDI pref for Control/I/O

This is especially frustrating given the price tag and how much this is touted as "plug-and-play". I've already spent a day troubleshooting for a solution and have run out of suggestions to try and obviously have not been able to play around yet :(

First things first: you discribed your problem and setup in a more than outstanding way, we see it mostly different here!

I think it’s best to contact the selling party and discribe your problems, and thing you tried. If bought new, a new Push2 should be given. So if you bought it in a store, go there, and if bought from Ableton directly - contact them and ask for a new one.

Very dissapointing, but I think it is defect……….

Also worth checking windows device manager see if push2 is listed twice, and I presume you are plugging in the power adapter?

It is brand new and from an online retail partner. After a recent test, I do not think it is the Push 2 itself. I downloaded AL 11 Suite onto a laptop and this morning was able to connect the Push 2 to it and the display and everything seemed to work exactly as it should. The problem is that I need it to work with my desktop, which after switching back to it, still shows the blank screen on the Push 2

Yes I am plugging in the power adapter.

The Push 2 is shown in a couple different locations in device manager (Sound Controller & USB devices) as seen in the first pic uploaded. The second pic shows the detail of the USB port that it is connected to.

This is what my device manager is showing: 1 instance of Push2 and 1 instance of Push Display.......

Take a look and see if you can get it like this.

There also was a Push2 audio thing in your USB tab, is that one correct?

That is a separate program showing details about each USB port on the computer and what device is connected to it. There is no other instance in Device Manager.

It will sometimes help to delete the red marked file on the jpeg. After you have done this , restart LIve and it will install itself again. To be shure nothings lost copy the file to a safeplace first, so you can always put it back.
