Animus Invidious - "Laboratory Porpoises"

Post by animus » Thu Dec 24, 2009 6:12 pm

Hey all. I released my 3-disc organic electronic album "Laboratory Porpoises", featuring over 20 collaborators, online for free listenation or download. These songs were composed mostly in Ableton Live, and mixed and mastered in Ableton Live. I've been getting good feedback on it (reviews below not commissioned by me in any way). If you have any queries about how i achieved certain sounds using Ableton, feel free to throw me a message. The album is a blend of electronic production and recorded organic stuff, including various remixes.

"If there was a film about a jellyfish who fell out of the ocean, down into the night sky, these songs would be on the soundtrack." - Daniel K. Moody

Disc 1 - Prance: http://animusinvidious.bandcamp.com/alb ... c-1-prance
"...very dreamy animated and luminous, earthen and biotic... entymologically syllabic... glacially penetrating, lichensian in its poetic texture and yet... somehow also... i don't know, subtle notes of amphibian joy, microbial kinetics... mycelial connectivity... "

Disc 2 - Reflect: http://animusinvidious.bandcamp.com/alb ... -2-reflect
"... more yummy tech tribe tweets and beats... a balance slice of the invisible universe, from the archeozoic to the meta-unified... subterranean gaian tectonics with the overlaid mythopoetics of luminous synaptic firing... synthesizing and celebrating the weave and play, the ancient and ongoing interpenetra...tion of elements... an oneiros of transformation, metamorphosis... the gnosis of the sacred moment..."

Disc 3 - Evolve: http://animusinvidious.bandcamp.com/alb ... c-3-evolve
"...a simian spoor of sonance, sensate, visceral... a whirling and whelming vis-a-vis... deep and subtly emotive of the days shadow... post-decimal... a wandering, a wake... the mechanics of the clockworks of creation cloaked in the mountain micro-genre of contemporary Coloradelia..." - David Anthony Martin

It's difficult to ascribe a particular genre / category to this music, as it varies so much. There is a common thread, tho. The idea is "Chill yet Fat" - Danceable to, yet thinkers' music also, and soothing to the ear.
