opinions please on demo remix
Re: opinions please on demo remix
the kick is weak for a track with an aggressive nature to it. layer a boomy kick with some low and and short release. it sounds like grandma tapping a table, you want it to sound like grandma getting her head kicked in by the police.
the vocals are off the beat.
I might shorten the release on the synths to open the space a bit more. maybe turn them off once or twice to make a break. it's an in-your-face rap so maybe it is better to have them running the whole time, it's chaos and panic!
are you going to add a bassline? not every song needs one.
hi hats work nice. the intro and outro work.

hey thanks, nice advice. I think I need to redo most of it and put some more bass etc, and yes the vocals are off I need to spend some time doing some warping, thanksTone Deft wrote:the kick is weak for a track with an aggressive nature to it. layer a boomy kick with some low and and short release. it sounds like grandma tapping a table, you want it to sound like grandma getting her head kicked in by the police.

glad it helped.
vocals can be tough because the singer can be a little ahead or behind the beat or even a whole beat off on purpose, you have to be in the moment to get it back.
it might help to lay down the vocals against the original, then work your material in.
sounds like a fun project, good luck!

a world of difference! now you're getting there.
what I would do is put a little distortion on the synth (or make is a square waves) and then low pass filter it a bit to give it some growl. more TB303-like, think police dogs chasing you!!
nice work man. I've been at work all day and you're tweaking toonz!! NOT FAIR!!!

Would've loved to hear the original for comparison but you know what they say. Slow you blow. This track was pretty good and worked for me. Thanks for sharing.
