"November's Theme"

Post by Wavehellomachine » Fri May 07, 2010 2:25 am

Greetings all. :)

This is my first post. It was one of my first attempts at using Ableton Tension. Let me know what you think:

Welcome Wave. You certainly brought out the best of Tension if the string parts came from them. A little articulation and enough dynamics to disguise the fact that they are electronic. When the vocal tracks come in, you should duck the music track way down so they won't overpower the focus of the vocs. It is always a pleasure for me to hear vocals on this site although you sang it with little to no emotion. Keep practicing and your mixes will become better. Thank you kindly for sharing. Respectfully!

I loved this track. Simple (which it needs to be and poetic. Maybe just a little bit more emotion in the vocal - though I get the the slight despondency.

Yes, my vox are certainly low-energy and while the despondency was definitely intentional I may eventually redo them with more oomph and better mixing. Thank you for the honest input.

Tension is a strange and amazing creature. It can sound eerily realistic. The down side to it is that, like a real instrument, it can be played wrong. If one isn't careful it can sound like talent night at a middle school.

Thanks for the responses guys 8)

I really liked your track, bro! :D But to me the vocal should be more agressive

I liked it, the changes and the melod of the voice go very well together.

Thank you pepezabala for the comment. I'm also going to follow the advice I've been given here and redo the vox with more emotion.

I listened to some more of your stuff and I like it a lot. I really like you singing style, maybe you shouldn't change it so much. Reminds me of Bill Callahan / Smog.

listened to it twice and was stunned by the string arrangement!
imo the voice fits perfect, but i found the delay on it a little too wet at some points.
great song!

Thank you lamdasond. Yes, Tension has amazing potential. I've been working on a couple of songs and have been using it for sound design. I've come up with some wild stuff.
