C o m p u t e r M u s i c LP / maudlin bitbox riddim
Hullo, everyone.
My name is Ed and I've finished an double album recently. It's called Computer Music and I've spent the last two years chipping away, glacial pace'd but supremely microscope'd.
Ableton is the reoccurring motif here, otherwise this is a collection of everything & everything- 4track tapes and 404 riddims and acoustic layers and drum kits that don't belong to me, it goes on and on. The biggest challenge was gluing all of this together, which has always interested me the most when working on an album, especially in, well, computer music- making everything cohesive, kind of, somehow.
There's a lot of exciting thing happening in computer music right now, it's so fuckin fertile and it's all I think about. It's developing every day a new lyricism that was never really possible in the past. Technology is becoming more reflexive. MIDI controllers finally feel like instruments. Any sound you can hear, or think of, can be measured, or shuffled.
Thx for the ears.

Thanks, really interesting release. Definitely one of the more intriguing pieces to be posted here.
