I haven't gone to school for it, fwiw, but I am also aging and late to the game. Find the right stuff to read online and experiment with what you see. Keep pushing and challenging yourself.

I read quite a bit on my own before I got down to business, but getting one's hands dirty helps more than anything else, though.

thumbs up for ableton live for making software that is understandable and options are easy to get.. seems like these ideas really sometimes has to happen within the emotion. and i can get to the sketch as fast as i think it.. one way of learning is to to use the same software..
