The guitar sample at the start is really noisy, which started getting a bit distracting, especially with the gating/cuts in place with the sample.downfader wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 8:41 pm...now I feel all dirty

Otherwise, I like what you're doing with this!

It was a cheap noisy mic. The gating is to create a rhythmic element. Thanks for listening anyway.mrblackbat wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 3:10 pmThe guitar sample at the start is really noisy, which started getting a bit distracting, especially with the gating/cuts in place with the sample.downfader wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 8:41 pm...now I feel all dirty

Ah ok, it definitely brought my attention to the noise, so if that's the intention with the gate then it worked!
I'm struggling to do much recording of samples at the moment because one of the fans on my laptop has got a dodgy bearing and emitting a right load of clatter. Waiting for a replacement, but in the meantime was recording some clicks, and it actually contributed, so noise and spillage are definitely not necessarily "bad"!

Get a zoom H2 or similar posh-dictaphone. Quite cheap, cheaper used/secondhand. Record snippets of ideas or things you find and incorporate those. The newer ones will take proper mics with phantom toomrblackbat wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 11:01 amAh ok, it definitely brought my attention to the noise, so if that's the intention with the gate then it worked!
