Trying to get as much feedback as I can.

I think you need more hardcore kind of sounds, and a faster tempo. Try also more snare fills and manic stuff. Also a good way of making something Drum 'n' Bass is to have plenty of sections that are just Drums and Bass (hence the name of the style). Also I think there are too many synthy pads and not enough pure bass. I generally use Sine Wave through Saturator and low pass filtering to make it sound D'n'B. Something simple and loud bass wise, and complex drums I think is the "answer", although of course there is no fixed recipe for any style of music.

I'm not a big fan of the 'schizo' kind of DnB, hence the melodic-ness.

Well, it can be possible to use slightly more intricate rhythms and stronger bass without it becoming "schizo". And try the just Drums and Bass thing, that generally works quite well. Just one question, are you using pre done loops, or is it all self programmed/played?

Rhythmatically, there are a couple of loops used in the drums along with programming.

Musically, it's all programmed/midi.

I'll try the 'drum and bass' breaks idea.

ok, it's just that I find the drum loops in your piece sound a bit "standard:, and lacking in fills, and when you program drums it does allow for more flexibilty... Having had another listen, I think it is quite a nice track, and not that far from chilled Drum 'n' Bass, but it could do with a bit more originality, and maybe some more bold elements.

I like the music not sure if it really is dnb, sounds more like euro house/trance music sped up with some dnb influence on the beats. I prefer this to dnb anyway, so maybe my opinion is not the one to seek re: a dnb song !

Good tune man, sounds like an action movie or gaming soundtrack.

It has quite a bit to capture the listener's attention, so you don't need to put too many more fills in there imho.

I'm not a huge dnb fan, but this is generally the kind of stuff i like...melodic with trashy drums...I dig the trance type sound personally

To me it sounds like all the "right" elements are there...now its time for some "wrong"...the part that really grabs you and makes the track personal...the part that makes the listner say "how the fuck did they do that?!"...make it dangerous, maybe even irrational...

Aside from that, perhaps introduce phrasing into each element, especially the drums....little subtle turnarounds every 2,4,8 bars...makes the repetition feel more like a logical progression...

I totally agree. I think at the end of the day whatever style you do this is the important bit. I have done many tracks that were intended to sound Drum 'n' Bassish, and totally don't, but it doesn't worry me, because I still think they sound good. I was just giving tips for if you DO want it to sound like Drum 'n' Bass, based on my personal quest in that direction... But at the end of the day does it matter?

Originally it was a prog-house track. Most I posted to it didn't like it, so I changed it.

Maybe it's not intended to be a DnB track. Prog-house didn't work. Dnb might not.

To much thought in the melodies and arrangement make ppl think trance.
And I don't really like trance. Or maybe sub-conciously I do, I just tell myself that.
