should i keep trying?

Post by yleh8k » Fri Jan 19, 2007 7:18 am

hi everyone!

these were made within the first week of screwing around with ableton. i kind of lost interest after i couldnt get the music thats in my head properly transcribed to audio.

please give these short ones a listen. maybe some feedback/advice would spur me on to get back into the groove.
thanks very much, all.

If you can't go any longer than a week doing something that doesn't get you perfect results then I would say don't bother taking up any hobby as you will never be happy.

Also why should I bother taking 20mins or so to listen and feed back if you can't be arsed to spend more than a week playing with a bit of software.....?

EDIT: OK I didn't want to come across a total ass so I listened to some bits and well none of it is terrible but also I guess if you have only been at it a week then most of it is probs from the pre-sets? Are these actually sounds you have made or just the lines?

"So what kind of music do you make?"
"Both kinds...... drum and bass."

if by presets you mean the sampler/ simpler instruments, yea. i start with those and screw around with the parameters until it sounds different, then use my keyboard to do the rhthyms/melodies (but most of that, due to latency issues, actually takes place in the midi note editor view)...

so yea. thanks for listening (i'm sure you were happy to find it was much less than 20 minutes! :) ) "none of it was terrible" = ok, i can agree with that

:?

I havent listened......i dont want to..... because like the other guy who replied to this thread has said, if you cannot be bothered making the music why should we be bothered spending time giving you feedback......

so as potential i have gave u a possible, becuase anyone who is willing to work at their music in my opinion has possible potential.....it doesnt happen overnight you have to work at it.....and very hard as well, to get where you want to be...as for getting the ideas out of your head that is something that gets easier the more time you spend learing different techniques involved.....

dont be discouraged, infact rather the opposite my friend, roll your sleeves up and get stuck in...i spend hours on end every night trying to make music, and then when i go to bed im either on this forum with a notepad and pen......or my head is in one of the computer music magazines.....making music is a great hobby, and if you have dreams of one day having something released or making a song u will be proud of...then its a hobby worth investing a LOT of hard work in....

hope this encourages you a bit more, come back in a week and ill be more than happy to give you feedback if you have spent more tha 20 minutes on something

thanks :)
