reality check-please help!
hi there
some time ago i had the disturbing experience of hearing the tracks i produced using m-audio bx8 on different speakers, mackie 824
it sounded really bad
so i just remembered to ask if some of you can give a listen to one track and please tell if it sounds solid and the speakers used...
i offer myself and my poor bx8s for the same purpose if anyone needs or wants it....
maybe we can create a circle with different people and speakers to check each others tracks on different systems...
here is the link to the track,
www.silicon-records.com/3G/320/3G-Under_Pressure.mp3
my main concern is about the bass part and if it creates or breaks the solidity of the mix
thanks a lot

thanx alot guys !!!
unfortunatelly most of the speakers you use are m-audio like me
at least on these ones i expected it to sound good !!!
my problem is with all the others speakers,
as i am begining to feel m-audio are too friendly,
like almost everything sounds good on them...
i noticed Affiliation used some yamaha as well,
did it sound close to m-audio ?
and in your previous experience,
have other tracks you heard behaved likewise betwen both speakers ?
thanx alot once more

music is like that.
i refuse to listen to my tracks while driving my truck, even run through a max my speakers just dont cut it and i end up going "god i suck".
contrary, while listening on a newer stock stereo in a friends car my tracks sounded 100x better and i felt more confident in myself and wanted to improved on what I was learning.
i think what you are hearing is the sound quality that the top end monitors have over the BXs and also, being it's your music, you know what you used to create the sound, how you wanted it to sound and what it sounds like on your setup so you have the ability (and curse) to be hyper-critical of yourself.
also your mixdowns are class; are you doing it by ear or using a visual display?

i mixed by ear
since i heard how awful it sounded on the 824 (the bass was very cripled and hollow sounding and the highs where too harsh and out of control, so it is very hard for me to believe the difference is only due to the increased speaker sound quality, although i´d rather believe that...)
i then spent some time checking it on ozone spectrum analyzer to find faults in the bass
it seemed to lack some mids around 600-1200 hz when compared to a -6db guide
thnx alot on the comments
i am still drooling over the class mixdown one...
if only i could get it to sound like that on most systems...
