[Dinaiz] Please give me your opinion :-)

Post by dinaiz » Tue Jul 29, 2008 2:27 am

Hi everybody !

Here are my two first songs with ableton live. I'm quite new to the program, and also to sound engineering so I would really apreciate constructive advice about how you feel it sounds and what should be changed.
Any feedback much apreciated!!!

Please listen to : http://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/634644

Cheers
Denis

I think these tracks are fairly solid. Interesting combinations of sounds, but I think they're mixed well. I like Holidays more than Electronic Hell. Do you mix loops or do you write your own stuff?
Drop it like it's lukewarm.

Hey thanks a lot for taking the time to listen and to give me your feedback. I really apreciate that !
I actually write everything, from scratch. (I originaly tried to produce those songs using cubase, but I didn't get the result I expected. I tried again with live and this is much closer to what I wanted)

Is it possible to listen to your music as well ?

It's pretty impressive that you write everything from scratch. I do the same, but most of my work comes out a little too straightforward IMO. I'm still developing my sound, but have a listen if you want:

Thanks, it's not that impressive in my opinion :-)
Generally, I start by spending hours improvizing on the piano and recording what I play. Then I wait a few days/weeks/months depending on the schedule and I listen to what I played again. I grap the parts I like the most and start building a song arround them ! Generally I discard 90% of what I play, so actually, it's more a trial-and-error technique than real composition :-)
