when I make a chunk of patterns in session that use follow actions I often dont want them taking up space, I want them to run 'as one'. If we could hide them inside a MetaCLip it would save on slot space for live use, yet still allow editing if required.
I imagine double clicking would unfold metaclips into a vitual clip column for editing, also you could 'explode metaclip' to extract the clips again.
It would also be useful for...
when I have an Arrangement View track of an edited loop all cut up to funkify it - I cant use that hard work in session unless I consolidate into a new sample. That seems mad. The initial loop is usually only 2 or 4 bars long, so buffering the sample for offsets in session wouldnt be resource intensive. Why cant we make a selected area of an arangement track onto a session MetaClip ...without rendering.
it would greatly enhace the 'Live' aspect of composing and the app in general
right now I start work in session, then when I get technical on my edits in arrangement I dont really want to render everything to wav just to use it in session. I want to move seamlessly back and forth between the two modes while I build up my music
It is a major stumbling block in the workflow of Live IMO
specifically: the transition back and forth from Session to Arrangement should be seamless and continual ...but it isn't. It requires me to render half finished tracks and re-import into session clips.
Meta Clips please
