never ridden a snowboard in my life, but i would love to. Need to get on it. I used to surf, so hopefully it'll come naturally to me once i get on it. (doubtful... pretty sure i'll be eating power constantly)

I ride a Palmer Carbon Circle 2 in the mighty Wasatch Mountains of Utah. We had a mid-March stretch last year that dumped 26 feet in 16 days. Can't wait for this season.

I will say, even though I used to skateboard, I find snowboarding to be a very different activity. Works different muscles, total different mechanics - only similarity to me is your stance and board. It's not just skateboarding on snow like many laypeople think.

+1...my first time snowboarding i thought should be easy, nope...took me the whole day to get it down, then never went again lol, ima ski type anyways

Been riding for years, next to music, snowboarding is probably the one thing I'm best at. Way back in the day used to ride for Lib Tech (halfpipe and GS, using a Matt Cummins). These days I ride a Burton Custom 164:

ah, a subject near and dear to my heart! i shred my ass off here in icy New England, where the mountains aren't huge, but can be steep. i've recently been out getting a taste on my MBS Leon Robbins Pro16, which is a nasty bomber of a mountainboard. we got flurries 2day, but i think i'll have to wait at least a month to start riding on this magic carpet...



it's an Arbor Wasteland 159. the top is marquetry, all wood veneers...structural art. this is a beautiful board. a little on the fragile side, i nearly punched a rock right through it the very first time i rode it, but even with that scar, this bad boy floats and flies! i was riding a Nitro Shadow(Death Ride limited edition) which served me well. that fucker is like a tank compared to the Arbor, so i think i'll put bindings on it and rock it as a rock board...

snowboarding is def my favorite activity, probably my greatest skill as well. anybody else hammer down in the Northeast?

I definitely want to do some snowboarding this winter.

I know it'll probably be difficult. Even surfing, which i used to do on an almost daily basis a few years ago, feels very strange and unfamiliar to me now that I'm living in NYC and only get to try and do it maybe once or twice a year... so I'm definitely not getting too confident.

I remember hearing about this a while ago on this forum and being suitably impressed back then! Great stuff! Always wanted to try out a LibTech board (intrigued by Magne-Traction), but was never in a resort where I could try them out. Say what you like about Burton dominating the market, at least the dealers let you try them out on the slopes here.

I used to ride a Custom 156 - think it was one of the first seasons to have those springy carbon beams inside them - and it looked way cool...

Lovely board, really dependable and fast.

After that, a Burton Seven 158 which was built like a tank and suffered loads of abuse and still rode rock solid.

And now on my current ride, Burton Vapor 157 with CO2 bindings which, compared to the Seven, was as if the board disappeared and I was just tearing down the mountain in my boots. Amazingly light and ultra fast response, but jittery at high speed, no getting around it.

Been riding for years.(15 or so) I am a pretty solid rider. Speed, not tricks. If I had no responsibilities, all I would do is chase an endless winter.

Being an Australian, our snow season is short and our mountains are hills, but you take what you can get. We are lucky that it snows here at all.

I have traveled to NZ a few of times and had a great trip to Canada, Blackcomb/Whistler, quite a few years back now.

My young family situation keeps me from riding as often as I would like, but that's life.

It has been one of my biggest loves.

I'm proper old school, this is the last board i actually owned back in 1991 was all about the downhill back then, I worked the season in France 90/91. The last time I actually went out thouigh was 1998....I miss it.



And this is my usual haunt, got everything, nice high peaks, nice pistes, nice half pipe, nice glacier, nice heli, nice off piste...everything. probably kill myself if i went out now.

I recall the vid you posted of you out in your back garden, or somehwre real local flipping the 180s off a little mound you made. I was like Why do we never, ever get snow like that in the UK!!!
