i get a big bug with 8.08 and the APC40, when changing tracks with the track selection buttons, the device control pots sometimes become inactive, like it's loosing contact with the ACP, i'm still able to chnage tracks, but the LED rings don't light up anymore and nothing can be controlled anymore,

It does'nt happen directly after launching live, but after a few seconds of use......

A real Show stopper....

Since going through all the betas it's been over 12 times now that I've had to sit and wait and watch the installer install Analog, Collision, Electric, Tension, and then first thing I do when it's finished is go to uninstall them again. It's not a massive problem, just an annoying little thing that I constantly associate with beta testing... A more efficient install of only the instruments I have actually purchased might encourage more people to use the betas...

Please consider this for 8.0.6b1/8.1b1  - thanks.
...and... it's fixed in 8.0.8! Thank you so much for this! Appreciated! :)
is it fixed, or is this simply not a beta release that installs all the extra crap you don't own?
It appears to be fixed. The previous betas and full versions installed all this extra stuff, but both 8.0.8b1 and 8.0.8 seemed to check what I owned first... good job.

ahh, didn't realize it was installing all the extra crap on the actual release versions. thought it was only with the betas installing all the instruments. good to know

Well look at you with your modern technology!
hehe :) best buck ever spent, even while i'm an early adopter and so pay too much for it so later you can get it all for cheap :) i love them every second that my pc doesn't lag due to loading something.

and the update went verrrrryyy smooth (i chose to download the smallest one), it was a matter of seconds most

So, having downloaded and installed 8.0.8 yesterday before APC40 bug issue meant it was taken offline, should I uninstall, re-download and re-install? I guess I ought, even though I don't have an APC40, but a bit of a pain.
finally getting round to scratching that itch to make music

are those small Version also up to date now?

cheers

I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

So, the "less content" Version is for people, who just own the Live 8 version without the whole suit things or what else is missing in the "small" version? Stuff like presets for the effect plugin?

Thanx for a short answer! :)

Please Alex as mr.adl asked, can you be more specific as to what the "less content" version entails. I am a Suite owner and I want to know which is the correct version that I should download. Thanks.

Yes, my custom splash screen is now replaced by a drab B/W logo.

I would like the ability to change this, like the skins inside.

On the PC (WinXP SP3) the start-up and shut down times are much faster, giving the impression of much greater responsiveness compared to Live 8.0.5.
However, on Snow Leopard, the start-up times are quite large.

For example -

Win XP SP3 - 11 seconds start-up, 3 seconds shutdown. (Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 4GB Ram)
Snow Leopard - 75 seconds start-up, 3 seconds shutdown. (MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Core Duo 2GB Ram)

EDIT:

I have a large library, identical on the PC and Mac. The slowdown is in reading the database files ("files.db") according to the startup log.

----
Here is the section in Log.txt for each:

For the Mac:
4610 ms. Database: Open file: '/Users/jim/Library/Application Support/Ableton/Live 8.0.8/Database/files.db'
64726 ms. Default App: AddControlled

For the PC:
7312 ms. Database: Open file: 'C:\Documents and Settings\Jim\Application Data\Ableton\Live 8.0.8\Database\files.db'
7405 ms. Default App: AddControlled

----

The PC database size is:
files.db 111,081 KB

The Mac database size is:
files.db 102 MB

--------------------

Edit #2

Ableton got back to me quickly on this and suggested I delete preferences, the cache files, etc.
This worked and the Mac starts up very quickly now.

So if I'm a suite owner, I'll finally get the greyscale splash screen again when installing 8.0.8? Now I am complete!

WTF? 45 min. even with a ssd? Hey something is going wrong with your system...

After all the discussion about how long it took to install Live I clocked the whole installation process. In my case I installed Live 8.0.8 Suite with no previous version installed i.e. clean. I started this morning at 11:08 and got my latest project running at 11:12... Note well 3-4 min. to install the whole Suite (on a striped volume; library already installed on a mirrored volume; )!
