Padkontrol and APC40/Launchpad feedback

Post by Ben_Binary » Wed Oct 28, 2009 3:57 am

I thought the APC40 was going to be the only one with the 'secret handshake' with ableton to give the red-ring feedback on your clip launch buttons.

The PadKontrol should have this.

the APC was never destined to be the ony controler with a handshake, thats clear from the APC video on the ableton product page.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see another (Akai?) product designed to integrate with Live's Drum Racks fairly soon...

having thought about it, if they made somethng identical to the APC but swapped the clip matrix for 16 velocity sensative pads i would be more than happy to shell out another 400 quid.

an ABC 16 perhaps.

handshake scroling up and down the drum rack grid, faders for individual drums in the group, track controls for pan and sends, device controls for sampler/simpler sound edits, macros, effex. all auto mapping at a push of a track select button (wich would now be drum select)

yum fookin yum.

yes yes - but smaller than the APC, 8 knobs only, and more like 200 quid.... (please!)

As much as we'd like to see that, I'm sure exclusivity provides a nice negotiating tool for Ableton when dealing with hardware manufacturers.

though if you think about., it also goes a long way to getting a lifetime of commitment out of the users

its not just the softwares workfow you end up giving up if you jump ship, its your physical way of working aswell.

surely it is simply a matter of waiting for the ring's documentation to be published as part of the official api. ?
