ahah
79€ only ... for me (and all max/msp owner )
I'll buy it, of course.
I was a private beta tester so ... I had time to test it a lot since several weeks!!

Re: MFL $299 USD
if one buys mfl, does one get a crossgrade price for max later if one wants to expand the max horizons?
Re: MFL $299 USD
I don't think I will immediately grab it. For me, the price is too high being a non-MAX owner. In the past I did some testing and fiddling around with Max/MSP, and although it is impressive I have to confess that my biggest interest in MFL is as a player for other' modules rather than the need to author my own.
And with as little as I am able to use Live now (although having been loyal to the paradigm owning every product since v2), I just don't think I can justify $300 until I see a (lot) of interesting community library built up. I'm sure that will be fast due to the huge amount of Max things out there now that will surely be modified and included. Still, I was hoping for a lower-priced "player" only.
Truth be told I will probably eventually get this, especially if the Abes are able to work out a discount/sale price in the future with C74. Being that it is mainly C74's child, however, I don't expect that to be anytime soon. Maybe I'll change my mind after seeing some audio/video examples put up that really sells the necessity of ownership.
That said, any Max owner who doesn't upgrade at the cross-grade price is crazy Great day for the Max people. Not so great for the non-Max people.

Re: MFL $299 USD
I think we need a Max4Live Lite version (load Max patches but not to edit them) for a nice price like less then 49 € and I will eventually buy it, if there is a good amount of free max patches available.
Whats about a PD4Live? Pure Data is the free and opensource version of Max. I heard the patches are compatible with Max...
But yes, this is heresy, they want to sell us expensive products and have control about how we use it...

yep, this is highly requested.metasymbol wrote:I think we need a Max4Live Lite version (load Max patches but not to edit them) for a nice price like less then 49 € and I will eventually buy it, if there is a good amount of free max patches available.
who would support it? Pd is open source and free, you need an income from a project to pay people to support it.A whats about a PD4Live? Pure Date is the free and opensource version of Max. I heard the patches are compatible with Max...
I don't know about 'expensive.' go look up the price of max/msp/jitter, it's $700. this is what the software for this hobby we have cost and the price for max4Live is a great deal. But yes, this is heresy, they want to sell us expensive products and have control about how we use it...

On my list after I buy new laptop! I can't get Live up and running with my white macbook anymore.

Would be cool if they extended the 20% anniversary discount to that, but that's wishful thinking. I'm still getting it though.

Re: MFL $299 USD
Yes, they should make a run-time version of M4L which can install and run devices created by the full version, but with limited or no tweaking. So Max dunces like me can still share the fruit of those geniuses who can actually use Max without the brainf*ck of trying to make our own devices This could be 50 bucks or so and be upgraded later to the full product.

all patches should be free unless it's some huge thing someone spent months and months developing.
tempus3r already has a site ready to go for this.

Re: MFL $299 USD
I'm in... I don't know if I'll be able to purchase day of release, but I will be picking this up.
I had really thought it would be closer $600, so I sort of feel like this is a half-off-deal (or at least that will be the justification I give to my girl for yet another large purchase )

Anyone know if there'll be an educational discount? The edu prices haven't been updated yet...
