How do you like the C-Thru Music AXiS 49? I am fascinated by it's potential, but have not played one yet.

Have you seen the Starr Labs ZB2-Board?

DON'T SHOW ME SUCH STUFF!!! iehks *i like it* :)

i love it. not that i play really intelectual stuff on it, but unlike on an ordinary keyboard where i don't get anything done (i only learned guitar, adapting is hard for me), the axis 49 allows me much quicker to find stuff i like, and then use the piano roll to evolve on it.. if you listen to the soundcloud example on my page, at around 5:05 there starts a melody (at 5:35 is the break of it) which is done by mostly mashing around on the axis :) but it sounds well for my ears, so i'm happy :)

(and it's a huge button array for mapping stuff, too.. awesome :))

Don't get too excited by the Z-Board, Starr Labs has it priced at $2,995 on their website! 8O

the lemur is hella expensive, too. still can't get .. non-exited about it :)

but it's obviously out of my price range, so i can just watch that picture :)

but it would allow a lot of clips to get triggered :)

I like it. I'm not so sure about its velocity detections, but as that isn't that important to me, it's good enough for it's purpose. Other than that, it delivers all it's promises: It's fun to just hit it and get stuff that sounds nice, and it's fun to explore it in more detail to understand a bit what you do.

It's espencially interesting if you never really learned playing piano. I really had always a hard time to adapt to it, and never got why it's the industry standard layout. All musicitians around me told me "that's the only logical way, you know?!" and i thought wtf, what's logical about it? I played guitar, which has a completely different layout (and is not logical at all as well, but i got used to it eventually :)), so i was less "yeah, piano layout, the ultimative one way to input notes into a pc".

I'm happy I made that choise. It will be small enough to take with me on a gig, it has tons of keys in case i need just some random midi keys (I emulate my launchpad currently with it :)).

Actually, there were some phone numbers written on the white board that I didn't think I should post on the internet so I just blurred them out. But thanks. :)
