Absynth 5 Impressions? Worth upgrading from 4?

Post by craftycurate » Mon Nov 09, 2009 12:39 am

Looking for your feedback about Absynth 5 ... am demoing it at the moment to get a feel for it, and I'm interested to know what others think.

No Launchpad here, so I can say I found Absynth 5 to be a pretty compelling upgrade myself. Mutator and Aetherizer are loads of fun.

I second, version 5 is worth the upgrade.

i think it's pretty good.supercomb filters give you the kind of sounds like Logic's awesome Sculpture.
cloud filters and Aetherizer are good also,as is that mutator.
filter feedback is good as well, but nowhere as nasty as Reaktor Spark or Massive.
tbh,the filters inside absynth are the weakest part of it.sound too clean to my taste(except supercomb)

i see you have Alchemy also.
Alchemy definitely sounds better, and is capable of truly spectacular stuff.but it doesn't have filter feedback or a feedback path like Massive.

That's helpful thanks ... I'm all into "dirt" at the moment and I agree that Absynth sounds pretty clean most of the time.

If I want grungy filter mess I go to FabFilter Twin, or Massive, and Alchemy has got some cool fat filter stuff going on too.

Most absynth filters shine better when coupled with a little bit of waveshaping in my opinion.
