your R51
Hello Amo:
I was just reading your discussions from last summer regarding your Thinkpad R51. I just ordered one myself. It's primarily for office-related stuff, butt I will also use it to run Live.
I was wondering how your experience has been with the machine so far. Are you happy with your R51 purchase? Is it running Live OK?
Thanks,
P

Hi pilcrow,
Yes I'm using my R51 with live and it runs perfectly fine. I'm very happy with that computer, just does what I expect it to do, gooood machine. I upgraded the memory to 1,5 Go though, and got the ultrabay thing to put an additionnal internal hard drive, which is a 60 Go 7200 RPM.
So far, it's really great.
Enjoy,
amo

hi
i am using a thinkpad t40p and a t41p with live 4,1 and it works great, the only time i got a little problem is when i try to use reaktor 4 as a vst in live, but my plan is to have my vsts on the t40p and live on t41p and then sync them togeter, but i still need some things before i can do that
but i love my thinkpads(they are not the fastest, but they work)

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I've used a Thinkpad in the past for work, and I really love their build quality. I'm looking forward to trying Live on the new R51 (last time I checked the UPS tracking site, my machine was on a plane in Hong Kong...it's like waiting to have a baby or something).
I'll probably look into that harddrive upgrade, as you suggested, Amo.
Do either of you--Nexus-6 or Amo--know of any active and helpful usergroups for Thinkpad owners? I know there are lots out there, but I thought if you guys had any recommendations, I'd check them out..
Thanks again,
P

http://forum.thinkpads.com/ seems quite a good thinkpad community
i've got a r40 that's just passed its first birthday which i'm very pleased with (apart from the screen, which although great resolution-wise, is a little unevenly lit and washed out compared to todays panels (my samsung 193P really puts it to shame), but they've been updated since.)
