New plugin for Live

Post by RayVaughn » Tue Jan 14, 2003 4:25 pm

I thought some of you might be interested in our new Plugin the Coldcutter.

The Coldcutter chops a loop and randomly rearranges the slices for quick access to new grooves.
You can download it here:
http://www.brightonart.co.uk/coldcutter.shtml

The Coldcutter was written for Live 1.5 but works in Cubase too.
A version for Live 2 will be made available as soon as I can get hold of a development upgrade ;¬)

Thanks to Matt Black and Coldcut.

Have fun

Marcus

ok so for those of you have used it, and seem to think that its a very cool program shed some light?

when you throw a beat into it does it have intelligent randomization like the RS7000's loop remix feature, where it does various styled breaks, rolls, fills,

are there presets or what, give us the skinny.

anybody tried it with live 2.0 just for the heck of it, and if so how'd it go?

I just tried it in Live 2.0 and it seems to work fine, but not sure because I only played around with it for a short while. 3 good things I found out right away are that it seems very simple to use, very cpu light- only raised cpu by 1%, and I love that reverse audio :D I will surely be using this plug in.

...to get the Coldcutter:

This plugin is currently PC only, sorry... We are very keen at Brightonart to expand our knowledge into MAC programming so this may be the place to start. Rest assured you guys will be the first to hear!

Thanks for all the positive feedback, it makes it all worthwhile!

Currently the plugin splits the loop into equal size slices and rearranges them randomly. The algorithms have been specified by Matt Black (Coldcut) who has used a program with similar functions in his live and studio production for some time.

Planned features for next version:
Preset fills and breaks (as you described)
Snapshots (memorise current slice order and settings)
Graphical Interface

Support future versions by buying Ninja stuff
