That is a shame. 4/4 will be missed. :(

We must all tolerate the opinions and insults of others on this board, why did he get picked out? Hands up who hasn't been insulted around here?

No, I thought not. A sad day for democracy. :?

As for the debate, it only matters to a handful of people, to musicians it matters not a jot. You make good music? Yes? OK. By the way, I don't care what tools you used.

I am playing live tomorrow night using Live and it will sound great, believe me.

The odd thing is that in quite a few threads he seemed to be making an honest effort at being 'normal', lol.

Even if you're joking right now, I don't think insults have to be tolerated at all - but this makes no difference in this case, he was already excluded from the forum and setting up a fake identity after getting thrown out would already be reason enough for an instant deactivation.

I just can read a fraction of what gets posted every day and in case of postings i just don't stumble accross i have to rely on the community to spot people that are on a constant insult mission.

If you come back behind 7 proxies, then none at all, but if you lose the ability to post here, I guess it'll make LOADS of difference to you. C'mon man, you've been on here years, you saying you wouldn't miss the place? (I'm sure you're reading this, even tho apparently you've been banned from posting).

This thread is now quite interesting to me, I'm well into the dynamics of forums at the moment.

Why did nobody else accuse Leeds of a trolling post?
Why does b0unce keep coming back to a forum he hates?
Why do some people get away with stuff on here when others don't?
Why has it taken so long for somebody to write the words "he" [b0unce] and "bi-polar" in the same sentence.

The Internet, huh?

If anyone is mad at me I apologize - I brought this up for debate so accept some responsibility for it's degeneration. At the time I thought it would be a fun, reasoned debate but after I tripped the switch I suddenly remembered we don't do that here  and then it was like a nuclear chain reaction, once started it gets out of control and doesn't stop

Having said this, a lot of people have a lot of opinions, and it had some life in it, so it wasn't too bad except for the personal disrespect and name calling. I apologized for my part in that and no hard feelings as far as I'm concerned. It's a pity 4/4 is gone, but this 'character' has become a serial insulter (is there anyone on here regularly who he hasn't dissed? - seriously - leedsdick4brains - that's the best you got? so lame  ) and name caller when he disagrees with something and he's had a couple of warnings. Doesn't matter to me one iota, but if anyone else was acting the same then the mods would apply the same rules, he had enough warnings. I hope he gets the help he needs.

I stand by my claims that Live is fine. That's me over and out

well I'm sure he'll be back

I'm taking bets for the next handle - whoever gets it conceptually right wins this symbol: ?

i.e. "conceptually right" means "animal, mineral, vegetable....Number...."
the last couple of handles have involved numbers, while my favourite handles were "ropey punter" and "Hatchetts McGee" because I felt their vibe, I never quite got the others. Henry Ford was nothing but a gigantic furry pestilent arse, and I think beyond that is where my memory fails me.

I can only appeal to b0unce who is no doubt viewing the forum currently as a guest to choose wisely on the next go and try to align the new handle with his/her cycles so that he/she can keep from getting banned.

We'd all miss b0unce, if she could just keep the feral alter in check

man, this forum out of any others has the most jaded user group of anywhere... i dont really understand why either

i gave some facts in my earlier posts and thought this would turn into a useful technical discussion, like ones that develop on other internet sites where people are intelligent. I barely post on this site at all and didnt even start the thread in the first place

i wrote a few things on what i see as a downside to Ableton and that automatically comes through as me saying Ableton is a bad program or doesnt sound as good as other applications, this is NOT what I said at all. The same responses "just make good music" "its not the tools its the user" blah blah blah

my first releases on Beatport were done 100% ableton (mixed OTB) and I'm still relatively happy with them. AS I said on the first page, you can get a great result in ableton but there are things to be aware of that dont exist elsewhere.

and for all you people that say "its not the tools"

that's not completely true either. in my earlier days i used to struggle like many with the bottom end of my tracks. I used to many software compressors/eqs and never got what i wanted and then developed a complex that i did not understand compression. Then I got some money together and picked up an API 2500 and a few other toys and, like a miracle, my tracks went from limp to slamming in about 2 seconds of having that thing hooked up in my setup. The tools do matter just as much as your ability to utilize them.

Like I said before, Ableton is a tool, every tool has a weakness.

all the "proof" you guys want is out there. i have spent years researching this stuff by talking to programmers, other artists, basically anyone who will talk about it. I've learned alot, more than i could possibly reiterate on this website or care too...

I used to think like you guys, "the music is all that matters" which is true, but when my first releases were out there and they didn't quite "sound" like some of my peers that i look up to, it became a search to get the best quality. especially in dance music, sound is where it's at, music is almost secondary. It's like how ricardo was talking about he gets records where the musical ideas are good but the sound is flat. This was my issue with the results I personally was getting out of Ableton at the time and I feel like I've overcome that, one of the ways i did it was using other tools out there...

peace

Just use what you feel you need to. Get your music feeling like you want it to.

I always believe the music comes first. Here is a clip where the sound quality is crap, but listen to the music itself:

I guarentee you your Live mix sounds better (sound quality wise) than that youtube clip.

I don't blame you Dom, you gots to do what you gots to do.

But I, for whatever reason, quite liked the guy and in terms of board fun, he was the daddy. I'll miss his random insults and witty banter.

No need for the insults, true. But you have to admit, he was pretty good at it. :D

Good luck 4/4 and Godspeed! 8)

Right, because calling people women is somehow so much less of an insult than flat out calling someone a cunt?
You're calling someone else bipolar and referring to them as female in response to them cussing at people online, yet of course
that's OK, you have no fear of dom banning you..... lame.

The rule seems to be that I can say "Alex I think you're acting like a woman, a lessor animal, and talking too much, you need to listen to my point." but if I just say "STFU bitch!" then dom is 'upset'. There's no difference in content, but one is OK because of perceived civility .... bleh! <--- why originally liked the forums here, because there wasn't moderation to muddy up the playing field, everyone was able to be themselves etc.

Don't forget! The internet also gives any user the instant and uncannily accurate ability to carry out precise psychological diagnoses on any other internet user.

We are all pro musicians, doctors, physicists, molecular biologists and succesful entrepreneurs!

as well as bipolar.

Huzzah!
