Glitches with "Complex Pro" warp mode

Post by DrStrange » Tue Dec 01, 2009 9:27 pm

On my gigging laptop, using "Complex Pro" as the warp mode on a clip causes nasty little timing gaps at the end of the loop, which pretty much wipes it out for live use. I've updated to 8.1, but the problem is still there.

Strangely on my studio machine, it works fine. Both setups have the same audio hardware (Motu 828 mkII and Motu 828 mkIII). In neither case is the CPU usage anywhere near full.

The laptop is an early Intel Macbook Pro (Intel Core Duo, *not* Core 2 Duo so it's only 32-bit) so I can only conclude it's the processor causing the issue.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I have exactly the same problem with 8.0.9 on my late 2008 (pre the big unibody remodel) Macbook Pro 2.5ghz C2D/4GB RAM. Complex Pro is UNUSABLE. Extremely frustrating.

is that where its coming from??? Sound fuzzes out for a tic, especially when launching another group of loops. Plenty of room on processor...

Happens on 2.0 macbook (2009) with 4gb ram. 320gb 7200rpm HD helped some but still no fix. Thought I'd have to upgrade as no problem on 2.8x8 mac pro in studio. Will test live set with different algorithm and post results..

Pity if thats what it is as complex pro sounds much better than complex :-(

Looks to me like complex pro uses almost twice as much processor as complex and four times as much as beats.

Ill try to use it sparingly and see if I still get glitches...

Have two live gigs on weekend and its sure to happen there worse that when testing at home so will get a good idea if some complex pro is still ok and its just an overhead issue not something else...

Will also make sure I only have the same sample rate for all loops/parts as that caused similar issues with Live 7.

Originally thought it was my 8 stereo out, mega routing, setup but changing that to stereo and no mega group internal routing didn't help much.

went through all my loops and used whatever sounded best. Almost always complex pro had more depth but was causing phasing in most loops..

Am now using complex pro on about 5% of loops and live set is sounding much better with zero glitching...
