How do I get around Launchpad and APC40 conflict?
How do I get around Launchpad and APC40 conflict?
I really need some help here. I want my launchpad to launch predefined clips. But when I assign the pads, they take over some of the apc40's assignments which totally screws it up. I need to simply have a grid of 64 buttons that launch predefined clips and have visual feedback. The lights need to show which ones are playing. Has anyone found a work around? Will M4L do this?

A little confused here. What mode are you operating the Launchpad in, Session or User Mode 1?
If you just want to launch clips, put the Launchpad into Session mode and use the arrow buttons to scroll your position onscreen until you highlight the clips you want and press the corresponding grid button.
....or am I misunderstanding the Q?

i want to create a static grid to launch predefined clips in user 1. I already use the apc40 to do the standard clip launching/navigating. I basically want to use the Launchpad as an instrument that only launches the same clips everytime like a sampler but i need visual feedback.

Yep ok.
I still stand by what I said before though. Why can't you set up 8 dedicted channels for these clips, each with 8 clips each, then use the Launchpad in Session Mode to trigger them all?
You will get visual feedback. Green for playing clip, Orange for stopped clip, Red for recording and blank for no clip.
Doing it this way also leaves User 1 mode free for other stuff.

ok. that works awesome however, call me lazy, but when I close the set and open it back up , I have to navigate the LP rectangle all the way over to the launch grid I setup. every time. is it possible for me to save the position of the rectangle?

Hehe, after posting that last one I realised the same thing, the clip matrix box doesn't save
Perhaps you can request it in the Feature Wishlist section.
I don't think it would take too much work to save this information in the set data.

throw the apc out the window
Re: How do I get around Launchpad and APC40 conflict?
well, I bought M4L today so I could perhaps reverse engineer the matrix Button matrix step sequencer that supposed to come with it and re-purpose it for clip launching, but I CAN'T FIND IT. Where is it?? this is what it says on the page:
"Max for Live comes with a device that turns the button matrix of the APC40 or Launchpad into a hardware interface for programming MIDI sequences. You can set and clear notes in a MIDI clip just as you would with an 808 or analog step sequencer."
