Oh man, I remember seeing this as a kid. The transition between the party vibe and the mourning is so abrupt - but then that's how it is.

GoodTimes should be studied in college, unbelievable how downhill tv went after that show, not only did they deal with every subject, racism, homophobia, sexism, unemployment-ism , politics, and just about anything else you could imagine but they did it in a magical way and always in between the family members themselves, that show is still ahead of it's time.

Mos Definitely on my short list of all time favorite shows. My younger brother and I still reference that show a lot in our conversations with each other.
I agree, the show was ahead of its time.
Thelma is STILL unbelievably hot!!!

I also remember watching this as a kid. My only problem with Good Times was that they were never able to get ahead. The minute things started looking up, everything came crashing down around them.

No surprise that the show was created by Norman Lear, who also did All in the Family. Probably the first television show in history that really had some balls.

Re: Saddest Moment in T.V. History
one of the reasons why I loved it, it didn't try to make things seem different than they were. the truth in that show was startlingly fresh even today all these many years later. now all the writers can seem to write about is fat people hollering and talking about greasy food.kb420 wrote:I also remember watching this as a kid. I never saw that programme but Black Adder Goes Forth ended with a real emotional finale:
