I'm almost completely sold on this, but my bank account isn't…even at used prices at the moment.

I think I need to be able to step away, at least partially from Live, because of late I spend too much time just staring at it blankly. I thought the APC40 might help a bit but it really didn't. Like M4L it's not really something that you can buy and expect it to somehow inspire you. You have to have a plan for it.

Sounds like a good plan. If you're not feeling it, no magic toy will make it come. Have a listen to something you haven't heard for a while, and forget about it for the weekend. I find that usually does the trick. :)

No- just people who didn't read the FAQ or check out the Maschine forum before they bought theirs. The reason why the FAQ and forum went live a while before the release was to inform people of what Maschine wouldn't be able to do in it's original release form, but a lot of people didn't think the sources of info were worth checking out... :?

As for me- I'm more in the glitchrock-buddah camp. I use Maschine, the Kore controller, an Xboard and an old ART x-15 Ultrafoot as controllers with Live; I can't see limiting myself to one controller onstage or off.

Wouldn't be a complete NI thread without ew :)

I remember the discussions about Maschine before it came out and shortly after it came out and it was determined that just about every point of contention could be fixed or addressed in a software update. I'm not a software programmer and I still don't own Maschine but even I could see that as an obvious and potentially quick light at the end of the problem (whish list?) tunnel. Some people are just impatient cunts.

Yes, Maschine is a great multi-purpose controller. Solid build, fun to use, good library, nice software and, at least for now, seems to be getting a lot of development love from NI.

well I hope NI continues to go in the direction that it's going with maschines updates, the current one and what they say the next one will include sounds like a breath of fresh air to alot of people out there
including myself, I hate having to use 5 remote controls just to watch tv and even though I'm a novice at using maschine it's looking like it's really going to help me get on with making music on the computer, it's starting to feel really good and if you followed any of my post on it you'd see that glitch had to put up with alot of questions to pry the sleep from my eyes, that and those tutorials I gotta say that those tuts were the best quickies that I've seen and next to Nick the Zombie that guy was a great pick to do the tutorials, just the right pace, cadence and information, I hope you guys will make some more of them very soon.
I have really had to change my mind about the way i look at Ni because of this product  this fuckin post is turning into a love letter dammit you nerds are getting to me

Live + Maschine is basically all I'm using, although I do have a nanokontrol and Nocturn mainly for controlling Live so that I very rarely have to use the mouse or keyboard. I have faderfox style scrolling of scenes/tracks, and loop start and length (without having to select the loop brace), clip pitch (audio or midi)...etc for the Nocturn. And the nanoKontrol has all kinds of stuff mapped to the buttons including Freeze Track, Flatten, Slice to MIDI, and even the Mac keyboard shortcut to switch apps. I also have a usb keypad for custom mapped Live shortcuts as well.

I am planning on adding the Launchpad sooner or later mostly for monome/max for live stuff but I'm not in a hurry since I'm completely in love with my setup as it is. Also because I can't afford m4l at the moment.

1.does this midi controller have the simoult feature of the mpc line where you hit one pad and it triggers that pad along with another that you define?

2. does this maschine controller allow you to layer 4 samples on one pad and edit each sample individually?

No on both unfortunately (as far as I know) but they would be brilliant feature requests.

I'm leaning towards Live and Maschine too, but I have a feeling that Maschine running in Kore Standalone might in fact be the dogs bollocks when it comes to getting ideas down. I like getting ideas down without using a DAW.

Kore and Maschine do acutally work quite nice together, i still prefer to work with Maschine within Live but if you want to do some jamming or prepare a live set for your next gig, there is nothing wrong with Kore and Maschine.

Wow - i didn't know that at all! There is so much I haven't learned about Maschine yet. I keep meaning to sit down with the manual and go through it properly.
