when you define it, the black square on the pad becomes white to show it's active.

I've been messing with this for a while trying to get it set up and have remapped the touch, x-axis, and y-axis on my KP3 but have been unable to get it to be recognized by Ableton. Do I need to have it in ext control mode? Also when Ruso described the process on the KP2 to turn off unneeded messages, what exactly was he turning off? I know how to access the MIDI filters on the KP3 but don't know what exactly he was suggesting doing with his button combonation instructions.
