how can I tell how loud the output is going to be?
I currently own a M-audio Fast Track Ultra and am finding the output to be to low for DJ use. I don't want to buy another card only to find out it's not loud enough either. So what am I looking for when buying a new interface?
I have heard good things about the NI Audio DJ interfaces but trying not to tie up a USB port in case I want to add another midi controller (firewire is an option).

Most sites will list the max output level. That's the number you're looking for. Most sit around +10 dBu and should be fine, and you'll additional amps to drive a bigger system anyway.
