Live: no enhancements with point releases... ever?
just go to thinking how every other piece of software i own gets workflow enhancements - and sometimes brand new features, plugins etc - with free point releases, and how (afaik) ableton never have. i've used Live since 5 and havent seen anything added for free in a point release. did they used to, pre-v5?
Re: Live: no enhancements with point releases... ever?
no, at least not since version 3. Personaly i think it would give the existing users a nice and cosy feeling...

Re: Live: no enhancements with point releases... ever?
kinda hard to add new features when the ones they've added still don't work and all the point releases are just bug fixes..
maybe one day.. would be nice

What are you guys talking about? There is a new feature in 8.1. Now you can set the recording quantization to 32nd notes!!!

definitely hard to tell if anything's been added when the changelog isn't posted for almost a month (and counting)outershpongolia wrote:Thought you were kidding at first.. pretty sure they didn't even give us a warning about the new file format in 8.1 until days after it was posted
Re: Live: no enhancements with point releases... ever?
the same people that can't find new features are the same ones saying Live is broken, go figure. power users.

Re: Live: no enhancements with point releases... ever?
Fortunately the only problems I've had with 8.1 were crashes from plug-in's, and the occasional hanging up when loading up my set, but with 350+ clips I'm not bawkin' too hard about that (but it didn't happen in 8.0.9) but it takes a good 15seconds
Re: Live: no enhancements with point releases... ever?
I think they're under big pressure. A company needs money to exist. Never forget that.
Product Life cycle is shortened. To attract new customers you need new attraction and
Live Intro was a good thing IMHO. More than that Max4Live was another.
So get new users with Intro and cuddle the old ones with M4L.
Of course we would have loved also some extras but I really thing there's no room
for that, they're too busy. Do you know if layoffs hit them as well?
This might be the reason of missing change logs, perpetual bug fixing... even if
in contradiction with several product launches at the same time:
APC40 (contains Live = Ableton gets $$$), Launchpad (Contains Live = Ableton gets $$$)
L8, Live Intro, M4L... what else? An year full of news.
