Live 8 - Preview MP3 Files Hangs - Not Responding

After using the same Dual Core Notebook PC (Vista) and external hard drive for many DJs gigs, all of a sudden, when I jump around previewing MP3 tracks during my DJ set, Ableton hangs and indicates "Not Responding". The track playing continues to play but the screen is frozen and the only way out is to "End Program" and restart. This is a disaster for DJ-ing. I have changed nothing since it worked perfectly and now it consistently hangs when previewing.

I'm using a Seagate USB external hard drive that is powered by the USB port only. Although there was no problem with this set up before, are there known issues and fixes for this?????????

I have exactly the same problem all of a sudden!
I tried reinstalling, but that didn't help!

You might check if it helps to increase your decoding cache in the Live Preferences.

Thanks, my cache was set for no maximum and a minimum of 500MB. Should I increase the minimum since there was no max limit set? Does this indicate that my hard drive is too full (the one that is set for the cache)???
