BEER + APC40 nightmare
BEER + APC40 nightmare
For any interested users that this might happen to. Yes. Some twat who was on the same bill as me spilt a becks down the fader SLITS. Everything is fine apart from faders 5 and 6 dont work properly, moving fader 4 results in fader 5 registering a bit. number six only goes from about 20 to 100. SHITTER.
Anyway. spoke to the nice guy at akai on the phone , very sympathetic. Gave me a returns number.
I'm sure you are all very professional and dont need reminding of this but:
NO BEER NEAR THE GEAR!!!!
Also remember to pack down as soon as your finished, unlike me. IDIOT.
I'll let you know how much this all costs for your future reference.

Buy another one. That way you have something to use while the first one gets fixed, and when you get it back you can use it both together for 16 tracks, 10 scenes, or whatever.

sympathy, yes, but then it would be "sympathic" here.. this is a mix of sympathic and pathetic, which is an interesting mixUKRuss wrote:You don't have sympathy in switzerland?

Re: BEER + APC40 nightmare
Yeah guys just some sympathy for Christmas would be nice. I have none for myself
So can you use two together like that? Is it like the launchpad where you get a red and a blue box? Sounds interesting, but one APC is big enough on its own. The thought of lugging two of them around does not appeal.
The dell qwerty keyboards at my old work used to have these little gutters inside with exit points for coffee spillages. That might be a good thing for hardware designer to consider. Either that or big lead weights in the bottom of beer bottles.
Hmmmmm, yeah nice idea but I cant afford another one. I might end up having to practically buy another one depending on how much the fix costs. Its not like a garage where they send you a courtesy APC while yours gets fixed either. And no it wasn't insured. DUHark wrote:Buy another one. I saw one of my favourite producers do a set last weekend, and he got 2 beers spilt on his macbook. full pints too! the thing kept on going for his whole set, i got a (blurry) pic of him picking up his laptop on its side and all this liquid gushing out
AFAIK, it died in the greenroom later on that night.

I was riding to the studio with a 24oz beer in my bag along with my Mac Book and a synth.
Yeah, the beer exploded, computer was trashed. Luckily, there is a market on eBay for destroyed MB parts.
