Good compression plugins

Post by softserv » Mon Dec 28, 2009 10:41 pm

Hello all!

As much as I love Live, its native effects are not always ideal. I'm looking for a really compression, limiter, and eq plugins. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,

I really like the fabfilter EQ and also their compressor. That said I regularly use the compressor in Live, I personally think its top notch for lots of material.

hello !

maybe should try these freewares..

- tbt plugs : tls 2095 (la2a clone) ,tls 3127 + others on tbt site..

- varietyofsound : density mk 2 (fairchild clone) + all others plugs from bootsy

- antress modern plugins: pack vers 4.80 with 1176, la2a ,fairchild clones + others

- buzzmaxi free comps

- ddmf ny compressor (worthware..you can have it for one dollar if you want ..) i love it like ALL ddmf plugs !!

- digitalfishphones : blockfish ,endorphin

hope it can helps..

p.s : little advice ..the new ableton compressor is really nice tool ,so i dont understand...but as all plugs you shouldnt saturate the input and the output ..+ working at 24 bit + to have the same resolution between samples ,audio recordings , and the daw ..also , 24 bit is recommended ..plus .. record your sounds around - 12db not near 0 db , no need this , because of digital 24 bit recording .. so you have a beautiful creamy sound ..

salut !

In terms of best bang for the buck, definitely check out the Voxengo and DDMF stuff, great quality for the price (or any price).

 hey do you want to taste my creamy sound ? héhé !! ..its not my native langage .. for me its sound like that : creamy ,round ,fluid ,soft ,compared to a saturated ,clipping signal which is more squared than a waveform..

..full of transients ,headroom ,no clipping .. its less poetical and sexy no ?

its not my fault if you see sex everywhere..even in the sound ..maybe you should have a hidden polymorphic sexuality héhé

a plus ..

They're spendy, but the bx_digital and bx_dynEQ by brainworx are freekin' amazing. M/S eq/dynamics are the way to go.

Thank you all!

I recently got Live 8 and haven't tried all the compressors yet. Maybe there are some good ones I'm ignoring. When folks say the Ableton compressor isn't bad, which one specifically are you referring to?

Thank you!
