First guitar, need a good free site to learn from.

Post by willdahbe » Thu Jan 07, 2010 11:04 pm

So I just picked up my first guitar, It's an Ibanez RG170 I picked up from a friend for $125 still in good shape. Anyways I've never played before and would like good resource site to learn a few things from. I googled beginner guitar chords and a few other things. couldn't find a decent site to learn from.
all of the diagrams are super tiny, and don't really tell you where on the fretboard you should be playing or which finger placements are best.

So does anyone know a good site/sites? Or would I be better off just picking up a small book somewhere?

edit: i'm a beginner so i really don't care what kind of music i'm playing right now, just want to get my head around a bit. i'm thinking rock and funk will be my main focus after awhile though if that matters.

holy crap there is a lot of tutorials and help info on there! have to forgive my ignorance, i've never played before and didn't begin to think there would be so much help on youtube. If anyone else has any other ideas would love to hear them.

justinguitar.com

I've learned a lot from this site.

You can also find him on youtube, though. He's pretty popular.
