In Darkness the Light. Futuristic rock and roll.

Post by vlantis » Thu Jan 07, 2010 6:39 am

Haven't posted a song for a long time, but now I'm back! This will be one of four songs from my next EP entitled "In Darkness the Light." Wanted to try my hand on doing rock and roll and this is the result. All vocals were done by Illyb. Lyrics by me.

Some of the guitar melody was inspired from the song 1/1 by Brian Eno. I played it from memory not having heard the song for a while, so I'm not sure how close it sticks to it.

This is an unfinished mix. I don't have the separate vocal tracks yet, so can't mix them myself. They were also recorded over an older mix that was a bit more compressed than what it will be (as you can see in the wav). I wanted to wait until it was completely finished, but it's been so long since I posted anything, I figure what the hell. Enjoy!

I've always enjoyed your stuff. It's different, but accessible. Which basically means it's easy to listen to - but a little weird (which is good).

So yeah, I didn't enjoy this one as much as your other stuff - but I definitely do enjoy your style.

(This is my first post!) Although, I do lurk quite often.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm aware that this is pretty different for me, and it's even a bit too teenager/pop-punk for my tastes, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing in and of itself. My next release after this will be a metal/noise sort of thing 8O, but I'll get back to my normal stuff after that.

bandito3 - thanks for following me. I'm surprised you know who I am considering I haven't posted here for a while. Hopefully you'll like the other songs I'm working on a bit more (they're not as poppy as this one).

reminds me of The Rentals meets The Unicorns meets early Blink 182 sounding vocals (not the actual words mind you)

hmmm maybe a bit off on that but I really enjoyed it.
