Yes you are wrong, check "mlr" on youtube to see how it works.

Why ? It´s not more "easy" warp the clip then "slice" to a new midi track, than cutting the clip into parts?

PS.: I´m not saying that you can do what MLR do, my post is about the steps told by wehkah in his post...

yes, there isn't just one way of doing it. :)

the midi way also will work!

i dont need an automatisation for all creative processes, doing some stuff manually will have a learning curve and put a touch of your own in your work (correct english grammar, hmmm ?!).

my whish is a quicker midi driver/engine for the launchpad & a midi editor for the controller. automap is not well for me. i think the possibility to save a preset on launchpad would be a great option.

Well, i think if you need to create some things to use, maybe only M4L will help you...

Maybe you can find an patch that fits to your needs and only download the M4L runtime, it´s free...

M4L Runtime.....I don't think so........People have been bitching about the lack of a runtime since M4L's release.

it would be useful to be able to change the colors of the buttons on the LP to correspond in some way with the clip colors in live!

Like if I have a drum progression going down the LP track vertically and there are 2 clips that are my breakdown section, it'd be nice to be able to instantly see that those to buttons on the LP are a slightly different color or brightness setting and know those are my breakdown buttons.

Just have an editor to tell which color for which state and for which pad PLEASE. I am having a pain doing this in max, and it's a waste of time.
I mean, this way it works is fine but doesn't suite my needs : I am lost in all this yellow and green.

Currently I'm trying to implement a drum grid sequencer for the Launchpad using NI Reaktor 5. Need to master Reaktor's steep learning curve first, though.

Sorry - could you explain this a bit more?

I have realised I am not going to be able to use the Launchpad as a control surface while having external midi hardware also running - so I need to run it in native as well..

Will it indicate what squares have clips ready to play in them still?

Why that ?
To clarify - setup is so -

Ableton 8 with a LaunchPad (also have APC40 - thought the LaunchPad might solve the issue) running as a control surface, VCM600 running as a remote (hard mapped midi), Midi Sequences (track) feeding Lead 2, Evolver and Virus B - synced to MachineDrum (MidiClock)...

All normally works fine - around 34/40% load on computer - excellent..

However, as soon as I start to navigate around the session, either with the control surface, or laptop keyboard, or mouse, I start getting lagging in the midi output.

If I just click once - say, into another clip, its a small hickup, but if I scroll down, for example, everything quickly goes out of time.

Sometimes the midi seems to just buffer, and then catch up, sometimes it just stays out of time.

I have tried internal sync, same issue.

Basically, as long as I have both the Control Surface (APC or LaunchPad) and the VCM receiving updates via Remote Out, I start getting these hickups.

If I turn the 'Remote Out' to the VCM off - sorted - but then I lose any LED feedback, and I would prefer to have the visual feedback of the VCM to being able to scroll up and down to launch clips.

So. I would happily nominate a 8 x 8 grid within Ableton for launching clips, hard map the Novation to those clips, but ideally, I would still like some visual feedback from the Novation, as to where the clips in the grid where, and the state (playing/stopped) - apart from references to what block of clips I am working with - I don't look at the computer anymore..

errmm.. sorry for the derail of topic, btw.. this is just the final piece in the puzzle for me.. :)

You should definitely report this bug.
I'll try on my side.

I have. It was described more as a limitation of the system, not as a bug.

My understanding is that a huge amount of midi information is being sent out to the remote output - possibly after being generated from the control surface - this is enough to slow the other 'track' midi down enough to cause audible delays..

Midi data should not overload the computer.

I would be happy if it was an oversight somewhere on my part - but been pondering/struggling with this for months..
