Actually, I quite like it.
The APC40 was overkill for what I wanted, but that looks like it could be just what I want.

it's not that it wouldn't serve it's purpose and do it somewhat well. it's that it wasn't at all what anyone was expecting and it could've been better!
the idea behind the launchpad is just way more fun, even though the precision of the controls may be lower. Akai needed to beat that level of excitement and they missed it by that much!

At first I thought, ok this is good for people with lots of controllers already, you're just loosing the encoders and crossfader etc.
Now that I look at it they've totally gimped the APC40, they've gotten rid of the navigation buttons so you're tied to those first 40 clips, you can't move the red focus box from the unit as far as I can see so you can't navigate through your set without using a software workaround. Big FAIL if this is true. Only makes it useful for people wanting to expand their APC40 and not as a standalone unit. Launchpad wins here hands down.

Wow !
I thought it was a joke.
Who the hell can want to have this device.
Akai, we want a bigger grid, with motorized faders. I can't believe it.

Ah! Shift button. Still a bit gimped. Shift buttons are a nightmare when you're on stage.
Re: Famous people who use the Akai APC-20!
Look closer again, The text for the 'Shift' button is in red, with all the shift controls being in red on the unit. The navigation is in white, so navigation is not via shift. [I'm presuming]beatpoet wrote:Ah! Shift button. Still a bit gimped. Shift buttons are a nightmare when you're on stage.

Bit better but still no launchpad.
I'd buy the faders, record solo buttons on their own though.

Sweet! As soon as it arrives, I'll ebay it - could do with the case to save up for my APC 20djsynchro wrote:There had to be someone who liked it, and that someone is you.re.mark wrote:Actually, I quite like it.

Oh my god. I laughed so hard... now I feel terrible ....
Because Whatever.
Re: Famous people who use the Akai APC-20!
While it might not have dedicated controls like the APC40 if you look closely at the picture it has little red text saying: Vol, Pan, SendABC and more interestingly User1,2,3, aka something the APC40 doesn’t have at all. So it might actually have a few more tricks up its sleeve than the APC40 itself. Interesting…

I thought about getting a 2nd APC40... this looks like a good add-on at a good price to me.
Seems like some just like to crap on anything that doesn't suit their needs.
