APC Mix

Post by Tympanic » Fri Jan 22, 2010 10:54 pm

Hi there,

what would u have thought if this APC 20 thingy would have been something in thisdirection?

cheers
I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

I would buy it, if it had more knobs.

just a lazy scribble here, but more knobs - why not.
We could scribble some apc designs here :-)

have you seen the novation zero sl mk2?
http://www.novationmusic.com/products/m ... o_sl_mk_ii

you've totally ditched the clip monome/launchpad style launching area?
you've put into your APC20 idea:
- 9 Endless Encoders
- 9 60mm Sliders
- 8 track selection buttons, 24 channel strip buttons, 8 device buttons, 3 transport buttons, 4 mode selection buttons, 4 bank select buttons.
- Crossfader

Sure there are some differences but most make novation controller even better:
- zero sl mk2 has a different layout
- 8 instead of 9 Endless Encoders, 11 segment Led rings instead of 15, BUT have touch-sensitivity
- 8 more Pots (270 Rotation) AGAIN with touch-sensitivity
- 8 instead of 9 60mm Sliders BUT AGAIN with touch-sensitivity
- 32 + 14 + 1 buttons with integrated LEDs (most of them midi mappable...)
- 8 soft feel Trigger pads (surely better than APC's track selection buttons for 'drumpadding')
- Touch sensitive Speed Dial (as on Nocturn). (godsend for mode selection and many other uses)
- it still has a Crossfader for dj-like uses
- LCD screen (just above the encoders, displays the names and values of all parameters)
- automap software
- USB bus-powered, optional 9V DC power supply can be added for stand-alone use.

Sure it's not class-complaint USB, but it does offer more support for MIDI THRU
and in many cases can be easier for configuration outside Live (due to automap).
