live 8.1 audio constantly clip's until sound dies completely

try also set up your buffer size(audio) higher

i had some problems runnin with 512 samples
now i m on 1024 it works better..
you have to click on preferences/audio/preferences
(where you can adjust the buffer of your soundcard)

i also have crackles using a m-audio firewire card..
but only when im opening menue windows in live..
guess its either the usb-port (interrupt share in windows)
or the graphic or mouse drivers

Thanks for the suggestion lars, but I've tried everything under the sun to get this running smoothly but I just can't. 1024 samples buffer, disabling wireless/BT, clean & erase of OSX and clean install of 8.1 Suite.

Anyone want to buy Live 8.1 Suite?

I feel your pain man, I still have been unable to use ableton.

WAIT A MINUTE, the buffer size ive been changing has been the plug in buffer size.

the actual buffer size for my soundcard is fixed.

Did you change your plugin buffer size back to "Same as Audio Card" or something like that?

Is it possible you have a midi feedback loop going? Can you disable all your midi ins and outs and see if that helps? Probably not, but worth a shot.

Just an update, My pc is still unable to use ableton.

But, Ive managed to get it running on an ancient laptop (centrino 1.4 ghz, 200 odd mb ram, xp sp2) so yippe

Hi David, I tryed the new version but it still doesnt work.

Im basically relegated to this old laptop now as my main pc wont turn on any more. Ill try support again when its up and running, but I dont think you will fix the problems, I was told last time to update to SP3 and I doubt that would help, I was also told that my soundcard was the problem, but it works perfectly with my other software and has done so for over 3 years now.

Sorry about my tone, Im just still a bit angry that it wont work, I cant really find anything to blame, its such a pity cause the old demo of 6 worked fine on that machine.

On thing I wish is for people who are having problems running ableton at all on their machine were able to get a previous version to use until the one they purchased worked. Id kill to even just use 6 on my PC.

Anyways at least Im able to use it on an old laptop with my soundcard, its really an awesome program.
